We realize ideas with the Hatten-UAS project at the Oldenburg-Hatten EDWH airfield to demonstrate solutions for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and the U-Space real laboratory to be developed.

We support Hatten-UAS with an end-to-end digitalization strategy through the b.r.m. UAS control center Bremen USSP to demonstrate ATM and UTM solutions at a commercial airfield.

We wish all participants in the Niedersachsen Aviation video competition every success and a great network meeting. We would like to thank all LNC employees for their activities.

A "safe" day at b.r.m. IT & Aerospace GmbH

Today, b.r.m.'s team of 5 GDPR experts came together. Under the leadership of Mr. Harald Rossol, Mr. Markus Rossol and Mr. Marius Ammermann, b.r.m. received the DIN SPEC 27076 certificate today.

The certificate was presented by the external security experts Mr. Thorsten Brendel and Mr. Daniel Köster.

But this is only the beginning of the safe path...

The timetable for the upcoming ISO 27001 audit and certification was also defined today. The project is expected to take a very short time.

This can simply be attributed to the very good and existing certifications, guidelines, management systems and assets at b.r.m.. The imminent turn of the year at b.r.m. is "standardized"

In manned air traffic, aircraft are supported by the tower during take-off and landing, in addition to the technology on board and on the ground. It is an integral part of a clear organizational structure and an indispensable part of everyday processes in airspace. According to the Implementing Regulation and EASA, these elements should also be fulfilled for unmanned air traffic in the established U-Space, the airspace for drones, with the help of a USSP.

The USSP: Combination of ATM and UTM

The U-Space Service Provider, USSP for short, will take on key tasks in future. For example, the USSP will take care of registration and deregistration, approving the planning of flight routes and navigating the drones by exchanging information. The Bremen-based company b.r.m. IT & Aerospace is currently conducting a USSP feasibility study, which aims to make the establishment of a U-Space Service Provider more efficient. Furthermore, the company is to be known as b.r.m. UAS control center Bremen (USSP) and make the airspace clearer and safer. In order to fulfill these tasks of a USSP, it must use the ATM and UTM management systems.

Air Traffic Management, or ATM for short, is used in manned aviation. The essential prerequisites for this system are Air Space Management (ASM), Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) and Air Traffic Services (ATS). ASM sorts the airspace into the various airspace uses. These include, for example, civil aviation and military aviation. The ATFM is responsible for planning and controlling air traffic. The system is designed to ensure safety, order and efficiency. The ATS is responsible for air traffic control, for example air traffic control. In Germany, this task is carried out by German Air Traffic Control (DFS).

Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) is responsible for regulating unmanned air traffic. Unmanned air traffic includes unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), i.e. drones. UAS are subject to different conditions that make communication much more difficult. Furthermore, there are different operating modes for drones, such as Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS), which means that drones can also be controlled outside the pilot's field of vision. To ensure that drones can fly alongside manned aircraft despite these differences, flawless communication and coordination is required. This is made possible by the automated and digitalized exchange of information through the USSP, so that drone flights can also become routine. The UTM is therefore an extension of the ATM. U-Space is the European approach to building a UTM.

The 13th National Maritime Conference will take place on September 14 and 15, 2023. This time in the modern port location of Bremen with the motto "Strengthening the location. Protect the climate. Shaping the future."

The National Maritime Conference was set up by the German government to support the maritime industry. Bremen is known as a modern port location and is one of the most important universal ports in Europe. The growing number of players in research and science are among those involved. The port and shipping traffic have shaped Bremen's economic development for centuries.

"Bremen Lounge" at the 13th National Maritime Conference

The event will be opened by Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Federal Economics Minister Dr. Robert Habeck, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, Mayor of Bremen Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte and other leading politicians from the federal and state governments. The state of Bremen will present itself at the conference with the so-called "Bremen Lounge". Bremen-based companies from various sectors will also be exhibiting at the event and presenting their ideas and technologies.

However, these are not only companies from the logistics and shipping industry, but also other innovative companies that are working on future technologies and means of transportation such as drones. The Bremen-based company b.r.m. IT & Aerospace is also represented at the 13th National Maritime Conference. b.r.m. With the VTOL-EGM project, the USSP feasibility study and the U-Space Real Lab North-West Germany and German Bight, b.r.m. has been able to set nationwide milestones in the drone industry and effectively promote it.

A sunny "Moin" from Niedersachsen Aviation Day! Today, Thursday, 07.09.2023, the 4th Niedersachsen Aviation Day will take place in Hildesheim. We are looking forward to exciting specialist presentations and insights into manned and unmanned aviation.

After the welcome by Stefan Schröder, Niedersachsen Aviation, and the host AutoGyro, represented by Mr. Gerald Speich, an extensive program will take place. As part of the series of lectures, our Managing Director Harald Rossol will talk about the advantages and current developments of the "Hatten-UAS" test center and its possibilities. VUL market study 2023

The Association for Unmanned Aviation (VUL) recently completed its Market Study 2023. This study takes place every two years and presents the current trends and developments in the international and national drone, air cab and drone detection and defense market.

Result of the 2023 market study

This year's 2023 market study found outstanding development in the German drone market. Of the more than 400,000 drones that were active in Germany in 2023, around 359,000 drones could be attributed to private use. Although the commercial share was only 15 percent, this should not be underestimated, as the forecasts up to 2030 are promising. The proportion of drones used commercially has risen by 197% to over 56,000 over the past three years.

In addition, investments in drone companies have risen sharply in recent years. In the past 10 years, around 124 million euros have been spent on drone companies. However, the 2023 market study clearly shows that around 93 percent of this sum was invested in 2021 and 2022. However, these companies include not only large companies, but also SMEs with an average of 20 employees and a company age of 8 years. This puts Germany in 4th place in the commercial drone market behind China, the USA and Japan.

Although the German commercial drone market is valued at 893 million euros and the private market at 62 million euros, this puts Germany in the upper midfield in a global comparison. In addition, according to the 2023 market study, Germany only ranks 18th in the global comparison in the market size per employee category. This is slightly behind the leaders Norway and Switzerland, but the forecast for the German drone market is extremely promising. In the drone detection and defense market, which acts as a protective measure against potentially dangerous aircraft, German companies received 13% of the 215 million euros invested worldwide in 2022.

Forecast 2030

The VUL expects demand for drones for commercial use to increase in 2030. In addition, the German drone market is expected to almost double to 1.7 billion euros. The earliest increase is expected to occur in the German air taxi market. The value is expected to increase from 16.6 million euros to over 167 million euros within the next 7 years. Furthermore, the first air cabs, i.e. for both passengers and freight, are expected to be available as early as 2024.

An annual specialist event is held to present the results of research and development in the aerospace industry. At this event, you can expect specialist presentations, exhibitions accompanied by specialist personnel and flights on the airfield. Whether manned or unmanned aviation, the latest events and findings are always presented at this event. b.r.m. IT & Aerospace will be exhibiting the Saber research drone from partner company Optoprecision GmbH and talking to you about its construction, use and test results.

A lot has happened in unmanned aviation since the last Lower Saxony Aviation Day in 2019. A number of legal framework conditions for drone operations have been extensively discussed and ultimately drafted in the EU drone regulations, among other things. In addition, the integration of unmanned aviation into manned aviation should run smoothly. For this reason, many studies have been carried out to test drones with standardized technology. B.r.m. IT & Aerospace will take part in this year's Lower Saxony Aviation Day 2023 and report on its successes together with its partners, such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM). IFAM will also be working with b.r.m. IT & Aerospace on the new U-Space NW project idea.
